AAW Nebula 2

This and That:

Comes with all the accessories one needs. Actually even more than that.
Nice storage case.

Nice shell design.
Good build quality.

Cable mostly similar to the one used by some older Knowledge Zenith in-ears. Better than the cables of some other in-ears below $200, but not among the best; somewhat rubbery and lacking strain relief on some transitions.

Sound:

Low impedance sources, largest included silicone tips.

Tonality:

Bass-heavy with balanced midrange and treble.

Sledgehammer-like upper bass punches and even bit stronger mid- and sub-bass presence without roll-off. Sub- and midbass around 13 dB north of diffuse-field neutrality (therefore 2 dB less bass-heavy than the Nebula One). Bass starts to climb around 650 Hz.

Bit of a midrange bleed but not too much - added warmth pleasant and far from unnaturally thick. Overshadows the mids somewhat on bass-oriented tracks because of its quantity. Not as much though, as the central mids have a slight bump.
The upper mids are neutral in timbre, and even slightly reduced.

Upper highs just slightly lifted to add just a bit of brightness as counterweight.

Therefore well-tuned midrange and treble while the upper bass is somewhat too forward and punchy; even gives me headaches. I don't have a problem with the mid- or sub-bass, though.

Resolution:

Lows typically for the bass quantity somewhat on the softer side but not muddy or mushy. Good control.
Still a good bit away from the iBasso IT03's fast and tight bass, though. Nonetheless a bit faster and tighter than the Fidue A73.

Detailed midrange and treble (although the upper treble is a little less differentiated) with good speech intelligibility as well as note separation.

Good coherency between the two different drivers although not on the same levels as some more expensive hybrid in-ears.

Soundstage:

Rather open but not particularly large or much larger than average. Overall bit more on the oval side.

Good separation and imaging. Quite precise, however not fully razor-sharp. Nonetheless absolutely nothing wrong with it at this price point.

Comparisons:

Fidue A73:

A73 less bassy. A73's lower mids bit warmer. Upper mids (A73) somewhat brighter. A73's upper highs brighter.

Nebula 2 bit tighter and faster, better controlled bass.
Equally detailed midrange.
Upper treble separation ahead on the Fidue.

Fidue's soundstage somewhat larger and more open. Bit more precise imaging.

iBasso IT03:

IT03 less bassy; more sub-bass-oriented (but with less quantity than the AAW) and therefore clearly not as warm. Nebula 2 bit more central mid presence; IT03 somewhat brighter upper mids. About comparable upper treble brightness.

IT03 much tighter, faster, better controlled bass.
IT03 more resolving and better separated in the mids and highs, too.

Comparable soundstage width. IT03 noticeably more precise imaging and layering.

AAW Nebula One:

Highly comparable bass elevation with Nebula 2 being just ca. 2 dB less heavy. Nebula 2 slightly less lower midrange warmth but slightly darker upper mids. Nebula 2 bit more upper treble quantity.

Nebula 2 bit better controlled, somewhat less soft bass. Bit better differentiated in the highs and mids, too.

Nebula One deeper stage; Nebula 2 bit more width and slightly cleaner imaging.

Conclusion:

Good bass-heavy in-ear with too much upper bass presence.
