Joinhandmade Jelly Doux

This and That
:

Available in many colours; company claims that the production process takes at least 48 hours.

Handcrafted carrying case. The lid doesn't close securely at all but wobbles.

White hand (company logo) to identify the left side.
Very good build quality of the shells. No visible edge/seam. Nice glittery, metallic colour.
Cheap fabric-coated cable. Cheap feeling fabric-coated remote control.

Sound:

Low impedance sources, largest included silicone tips.

Tonality:

Clearly consumer-oriented but tuned well.

Bass-heavy, like most models in this price range.
Mid- and sub-bass feature the strongest emphasis with about 15 dB in quantity compared to an in-ear with diffuse-field flat lows; the upper bass and lower fundamental range are also quite strongly emphasised, however somewhat less.

From 100 Hz up, level decreases evenly towards 500 Hz where it is neutral. Less bass bleed than many consumer in-ears, but still some. Therefore rich, warm sound but with mostly avoided midrange bloom/bass spill.

Otherwise, the mids are fairly balanced. There's a mild lift around 3 kHz; it works well as a counterweight to the bass and warmth; nothing that's unnatural or thin. Otherwise mostly neutral treble and relatively even (bit of a lift around 5 and 9 kHz, but none of them overshoots what would be neutral). Good extension past 10 kHz.

Seems like a sound signature that's tuned well for bass-loving people. Something I really didn't expect at the price point considering that the in-ears are handmade, and especially since the company seems to be a crowdfunding start-up company.

Resolution:

For the price, overall resolution is on an appropriate level and isn’t really any better or worse than other similarly priced models like the Zero Audio Carbo Tenore, despite the hand-crafted shells. Though, one shouldn’t expect much more than a $35-level resolution.

As the bass is strongly emphasised, it somewhat strains the drivers and makes the lows appear somewhat soft and slow. Control is more than okay for the price and the lows don't appear too stressed with more complex tracks.

Although voices don't sound cloudy, this area of the mids could be more detailed.

The treble sounds natural, even and quite well differentiated, although the upper treble sparkle could have a bit more differentiation.
Overall decent performance for the price without anything that appears flawed.

Soundstage:

The imaginary soundstage is about average in terms of dimensions, but appears quite circular and has a really good depth-to-width-ratio.
For the price, instrument separation in the is very precise and layering is decent as well.

Conclusion:

Good resolution for the price, but don't expect more. Strong bass with well-integrated mids and highs. The sound is indeed surprisingly good, which is something one cannot say about the cable that looks and feels cheap. Additionally, a regular storage/carrying case would've been better than that thing with the wobbly lid that came included.
