DUNU Titan 3

This and That:

Same accessories (ample amount) and unboxing experience as Titan 1 and Titan 5.

However, as the 3 and 5 have got removable cables (that have longer connectors), fitting the Titan 3 and 5 in the really nice carrying case case is more difficult in comparison.

Same shell design as Titan 5.

Good cable.

The rather short nozzle, angle and location of the vents will lead to a high likelihood of the Titan 1 (, 3 and 5) sounding very different from person to person, depending on if and how much those vents are covered (which will influence the amount of bass as well as to a much lesser degree the middle treble response), depending on one's individual ear geometry. That's also why there are different impressions on the internet about the sound signature/balance (bass quantity) of the Titan in-ears. Therefore I definitely wish that DUNU had solved the venting somewhat differently and re-located the holes (if it were possible).

Sound:

Low impedance sources, largest included red core silicone tips.

Tonality:

In my ears, the Titan 3 sounds fairly balanced to somewhat mid-centric. Therefore it is the least sounded model of the Titan series.

The lows show a moderate lift that is weaker than that of the other Titan in-ears, however the Titan 3 doesn't lack bass but still shows some warmth and impact, just like the others, although at more balanced levels.
Its low-range elevation starts to rise around 600 Hz and reaches its climax quite high in the fundamental range around 300 Hz, resulting in a rather warm tilt of the lows. Extension towards the sub-bass is flat and without any roll-off.

The midrange appears to be somewhat intimate in the mix, and is ultimately natural sounding, with perhaps just slightly more brightness in the upper mids.

There's a moderate peak at 5 kHz, and another one at 7.2 kHz, however the latter is milder. The following rest of the upper treble is somewhat more in the background. Extension in the super treble past 10 kHz is good, though.
So the treble is generally somewhat more on the brighter side, however less than that of the Titan 1 and 5.

The tuning is also the most mature, least v-shaped, least sharp in the Titan range, so I'd say that I like the Titan 3's tuning the most.

Resolution:

Resolution is really good and definitely among that of the best in-ears in this price range. Here, the Titan 3 is no exception and just as resolving as the other two major Titan series in-ears.

The bass is nicely tight, fast, quick and clean, with great control, and just as tight as that of the Titan 1, being slightly tighter compared to the Titan 5.

Treble differentiation and details are very good, and I'd even say slightly above that of the Titan 1.

Although the Titan 3 is the model with the most present mids in the Titan product family, its midrange, just like that of the Titan 1, seems to lack slightly behind the lows and highs when it comes to resolution.

Soundstage:

Not as large and open or expansive as the Titan 1's, but not small either and still larger than average. That's true for both width and depth.
To my ears, the stage sounds circular.

Imaging is nicely precise and clean, even on fast, demanding and busy tracks.

Compared to other Dynamic Driver In-Ears:

DUNU Titan 5:

The Titan 5 sounds thicker, as it has got the stronger bass and fundamental range elevation.
The Titan 5’s and Titan 3’s treble are quite similar, with the exception of the Titan 5 being brighter in the upper treble.
Both are similarly tuned in the midrange.

Regarding resolution, they are mostly identical: both have got fast, controlled and tight lows (the difference is very small and the Titan 5 is just minimally softer), equally detailed, well-separated treble and have got a midrange resolution that is very good but very slightly lacks behind that of the bass and highs.

The Titan 5 has got the slightly larger soundstage and sounds a tad more open, with the stronger spatial depth, however both are not as large/open sounding as the Titan 1.

DUNU Titan 1:

Out of the two, the Titan 3 is the more balanced sounding in-ear. While the Titan 1 has got a distinct v-shaped sound signature with rather distant sounding mids, a more v-shaped signature, the Titan 3 sounds more balanced, more mature, and places voices more intimately.
The Titan 3's treble sounds less bright.

Regarding resolution, they are quite identical: both have got fast, controlled and tight lows, detailed, well-separated treble and are slightly less resolving in the midrange.

The Titan 1's soundstage is audibly clearly larger and more open sounding; nonetheless the Titan 3 doesn’t sound congested at all and creates an imaginary room that is still a bit larger than just average and is precise when it comes to imaging and separation.

Conclusion:

Most mature, most balanced sounding model of DUNU's Titan product family.
