DUNU DN-2000J

This and That:

Super ample amount of accessories.
Many accessories to fine-tune the sound and adjust the fit.
Large, spacious and protective carrying case; made of metal; premium.

Good build quality.
Rather simple design but still unique.
The BA drivers with their green acoustic damper are visible through the mesh filter.

Excellent cable - the best non-twisted cable I know. Super supple and soft as it's got incorporated air canals to make it more resistant.

Sound:

I'm using low impedance sources as well as the largest included grey silicone tips without any foam inlay. I'm not using any extension rings, bass rings or supplied fit enhancing accessories (as I don't need the latter since the DN-2000J fits excellently).

Tonality:

The tuning reminds me a lot of that of my Sennheiser HD 800.

The DN-2000J sounds somewhat v-shaped with some brightness, sharpness and sibilance in its middle treble, however in contrast to the HD 800, its midrange is somewhat on the brighter, leaner side as well, while the Sennheiser has got somewhat relaxed upper mids.

With a free inner vent, the bass is elevated by around 5 dB, and mainly concentrates on the midbass, upper bass and lower fundamental range, giving it a rather warm tilt. The midbass rolls somewhat off towards the sub-bass.

The mids appear subjectively neither distant nor forward in the mix, but their timbre is somewhat on the brighter, leaner side due to an elevation around 3 kHz that follows after slightly reduced presence range quantity.

The level increases again in the middle highs and forms a rather wide peak around 7 kHz, with another one in the upper highs around 9 kHz.
Mainly due to the former peak, the treble is undeniably on the brighter side, but also somewhat sharp and harsh, and also borderline sibilant and borderline unpleasant, leading to the treble timbre being somewhat off.
Super treble extension past 10 kHz is excellent past 16 kHz.

Resolution:

Resolution is simply excellent.

Very high speech intelligibility and micro details in the mids, very high treble resolution and clear, clean note separation as well. No problems handling complex, fast and busy tracks.

The bass is of high quality and strikes a good balance between a gorgeously visceral presentation and speed. It's very fast and quick, but decays a little more softly, far away from being muddy or slow, so it generates a really nice, magical body and visceral note rendering while maintaining high speed; even very fast double-bass punches and demanding tracks with complex bass lines are rendered cleanly. In that way, it reminds me of my Audeze LCD-X's bass presentation.

Soundstage
:

Fairly large and spacious, comparable to that of my UERM.

Precise instrument separation and placement.
Clean layering as well.

Conclusion:

Sennheiser HD 800-like tonality with Audeze LCD-X-like bass quality.
High resolution. Can be borderline sharp/edgy in the treble though.
